6. OUAZ Rules, Bylaws, & Policies

NEW OUAZ ACADEMIC POLICY:

This new policy can be found in the Academic Reference Handbook (ARC), Chapter 2


"All college-level courses (100 level and above) successfully completed at regionally accredited institutions of higher education are transferred directly. Effective July 1, 2023, the previous policy of transcribing Ds was rescinded Spring 2023 by University Academic Council. Effective July 1, 2011, the previous policy of transcribing Fs was rescinded April 21, 2011 by University Academic Council. See Section 2.3 for additional limitations. "


Summary: Courses transferred to OUAZ with a grade of D will not be transcribed.


 

Weightlifting, Water Polo, and Stunt are considered Non-NAIA sports.

Non-NAIA:

  • These sports are not recognized by NAIA as varsity sports.

  • These students do not need to get an NAIA determination, only an OUAZ Determination

  • These students can participate beyond the 10 semesters and 4 seasons of competition (with permission from OUAZ administration).

  • These students are required to follow all NAIA bylaws to participate.

Exception Process for Non-NAIA Sports:

  1. First Exception: Student, Coach and Director of Compliance must sign contract outlining requirements for the semester/for a deadline prior to certification of the student-athlete.

  2. Second Exception: Student, Coach, Director of Compliance, and Director of Atheltics must sign contract outlining requirements for the semester/for a deadline prior to certification of the student-athlete.

    1. Student must also write a statement of why they should receive this exception and how they will use this opportunity to get themselves back on track.

  3. Third Exception (Final): Student, Coach, Director of Compliance, Director of Atheltics, and President must sign contract outlining requirements for the semester/for a deadline prior to certification of the student-athlete.

    1. Student must also write a statement of why they should receive this exception and how they will use this opportunity to get themselves back on track.

    2. Coach must also write a statement of why the student should receive this exception and how they will assist in the student's success.

 

FINANCIAL CLEARANCE

Students must be financially cleared prior to:

  1. Receiving gear or equipment

  2. Practicing with the team

  3. Participating in any weighttraining or conditioning

  4. Being certified as eligible.

 

ATHLETIC TRAINING CLEARANCE

Students must be cleared by the athletic training staff prior to:

  1. Practicing with the team

  2. Participating in any weighttraining or conditioning

  3. Being certified as eligible.

Straighterline, Sophia.org, Coursera, Study.com, and CLEP


These organizations fall under a specific internal academic policy. Be sure to review the Play It Straight Newsletter document so that you know how to advise your students and how those courses will be treated.



These courses should be used sparesly and with uncertainty.
